4. Copyright Ownership
Authors retain copyright to their original scholarly works published in AL MANAR: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Pendidikan Islam.
By publishing in the journal, authors grant the journal the right of first publication. The published work is simultaneously made available under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, subject to its terms and conditions.
Authors retain the right to reuse, distribute, and further develop their scholarly works in accordance with their retained copyright, applicable publication arrangements, and the licensing rights granted to third parties.
The application of the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license does not transfer copyright ownership from the authors to the journal. Instead, it grants the public specified rights to use the licensed material under the conditions established by Creative Commons.
5. Third-Party Materials
The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license applies to the original scholarly content covered by the article's licensing statement.
Third-party materials, including photographs, illustrations, figures, tables, research instruments, and other copyrighted content, may be subject to separate licensing arrangements when they are expressly excluded from the article's Creative Commons license or otherwise identified as subject to separate rights.
Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to reproduce third-party materials when such use is not otherwise legally permitted. Appropriate copyright acknowledgments and statements of permission should be included where required.
Users must respect separate copyright notices and licensing conditions associated with third-party materials. The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license does not automatically authorize the reuse of third-party content that falls outside its scope.
6. Repository and Scholarly Sharing
AL MANAR encourages authors to disseminate their published research through institutional repositories, personal academic websites, scholarly networks, and other legitimate research dissemination platforms.
Authors may deposit and distribute their published articles, including the final published version, provided that applicable copyright, publication arrangements, and licensing conditions are respected.
Third parties may share and redistribute licensed articles through repositories and scholarly platforms for noncommercial purposes, subject to the attribution and other requirements of CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
Repository deposits and subsequent dissemination should include appropriate acknowledgment of the original publication, complete bibliographic information, a link to the published article where available, and clear identification of the applicable Creative Commons license.
The journal supports responsible self-archiving, noncommercial scholarly sharing, and the accessibility of scholarly publications in the fields of communication and Islamic education.
7. Previously Published Articles
The applicable license for each published article is determined by the licensing statement and publication arrangements associated with that article.
The adoption or subsequent revision of this License Policy does not automatically replace, revoke, or modify the licensing terms of previously published articles.
Articles published under earlier licensing arrangements remain subject to their respective terms unless changes are lawfully authorized and appropriately documented. Rights previously granted under an applicable Creative Commons license generally remain available according to that license's terms.
AL MANAR is committed to maintaining consistency between its License Policy, Copyright Policy, and the licensing information displayed on individual article pages.
8. Licensing Transparency and Compliance
AL MANAR seeks to ensure that licensing information is publicly accessible and clearly communicated to authors, readers, researchers, and other users.
The applicable Creative Commons license should be displayed consistently on the journal's website, within individual article records, and in published article files where appropriate.
Authors and users are responsible for complying with the applicable licensing conditions, including attribution, restrictions on commercial use, ShareAlike obligations, and respect for third-party intellectual property rights.
The editorial office will periodically review the journal's licensing practices to maintain consistency with its open-access publishing framework, publication ethics, copyright policy, and applicable legal requirements.
