The Impact of Online Learning on Students' Level of Understanding of Material

The development of information technology has encouraged the use of online learning as an option in higher education. Online learning facilitates access to learning materials and allows learning activities to take place more freely, without being bound by location and time. However, the effectiveness of online learning in helping students understand the material remains a concern, as several factors can influence learning success. This study aims to examine the effect of online learning on students' understanding of the material. The method used was library research, examining various scientific articles, national journals, and academic sources relevant to this topic. Data was collected through searching, selecting, and analyzing literature discussing online learning and its impact on student understanding. The results indicate that online learning has a positive effect in increasing access to learning resources, flexibility in learning time, and student independence. However, the level of understanding of the material is influenced by the quality of interaction between lecturers and students, the availability of supporting technology, a stable internet connection, and student motivation. The study concludes that online learning has the potential to improve student understanding of the material if supported by interactive learning methods, adequate use of technology, and active student participation in learning
