This study aims to analyze the foundation of Indonesian education in facing the transformation of education policy in the era of Society 5.0. The focus of the study includes the relevance of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's thoughts, the implementation of Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, and the direction of changes in the National Education System Bill in facing the development of digital technology. This study applies a qualitative approach through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Data were collected from Google Scholar, Scopus, SINTA, and Garuda in publications from 2020–2026 through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Furthermore, the data were analyzed thematically against various studies discussing the foundation of education, national education policy, digital transformation, and the concept of Society 5.0. The results of the study found that Ki Hadjar Dewantara's ideas remain relevant through the concept of freedom of learning, educational humanism, and the Three Centers of Education, which are important concepts in education. In addition, Law Number 20 of 2003 remains the main basis for the implementation of national education, but requires adaptive updates to the development of IoT and AI. This study identified gaps in digital policy implementation, particularly in infrastructure, teachers' digital competencies, and equitable access to technology. Therefore, policies that integrate digital literacy, character education, technology ethics, and equitable distribution of educational infrastructure are needed.
