Integration of History in the Industrial Curriculum of Aviation Vocational High Schools: A Teaching Factory Case Study

The Industry 4.0 revolution has driven transformation in Indonesian vocational education, yet normative-adaptive subjects such as history are often positioned as supplementary curriculum components. This study aims to analyze the forms of history learning integration within the industry-based Teaching Factory (TEFA) curriculum at SMK Penerbangan AAG Adisutjipto Yogyakarta, the pedagogical strategies employed by teachers, and the systemic and pedagogical challenges encountered. A qualitative approach with a single case study design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, limited participatory observations, and document analysis, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña strengthened with systematic coding-based thematic analysis techniques. Source and technique triangulation were applied to ensure the credibility of findings. The results indicate that history teachers attempted contextualization through the integration of aviation technology history, industry history, and professional value cultivation. However, the implementation remains partial and dependent on individual teacher initiatives due to the absence of operational curriculum guidelines and structured instructional resources. This study recommends the development of an institutionally embedded vocational history learning model.
