The increasingly complex global ecological crisis shows that environmental problems are not only technical and structural in nature, but also rooted in a crisis of human ethics and morals. The younger generation, as a strategic group in the sustainability of life, faces a major challenge in building ethical awareness of the relationship between humans and nature. In this context, moral education has an important role to play, but normative and anthropocentric approaches are often unable to foster a deep sense of ecological responsibility. This article aims to examine the role of ecotheology in moral education as an effort to shape the ethical awareness of the younger generation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through critical analysis of scientific literature relevant to ecotheology, moral education, and ethical awareness. The results of the study show that ecotheology offers an integrative ethical framework by viewing nature as part of God's creation that has intrinsic value and must be treated responsibly. The integration of ecotheological values in moral education can broaden the ethical orientation of the younger generation from social relations between humans to relational ethics that includes nature. The ethical awareness that is formed is not only cognitive, but also reflective and spiritual. Thus, ecotheology has the potential to become an alternative approach in the development of moral education that is relevant to the challenges of the contemporary ecological crisis and contributes to the formation of a young generation with ethical and sustainable character.
