Interpersonal Communication Strategies Among Long Distance Marriage Couples of Migrant Workers in Sustaining Marital Harmony: A Study in Prajak Hamlet

This thesis is titled "Interpersonal Communication of Long Distance Marriage of Migrant Workers in Maintaining Household Harmony in Dusun Prajak." The study aims to analyze how interpersonal communication between migrant worker couples in long distance marriages affects their household harmony. Employing a qualitative case study approach, this research involved in-depth interviews with four married couples. The findings indicate that openness in communication, empathy, positive attitudes, and emotional management are key factors in maintaining a harmonious relationship despite geographical separation. The informants expressed that open and honest communication helps them overcome emotional challenges such as longing and anxiety. Emotional support from partners has proven to enhance their psychological well-being. This study is expected to provide new insights into the dynamics of communication among migrant worker couples and offer practical recommendations for maintaining household harmony. Thus, effective communication becomes an essential foundation for sustaining harmonious relationships, even under conditions of physical limitations.
