This study aims to explore Asma Barlas' thoughts on gender and communication in the context of Islam, and how her views can respond to the problem of gender inequality that often arises in religious interpretation. This study focuses on two main things: first, how Barlas views the relationship between men and women in Islam; and second, how fair and equal communication can be applied in everyday life based on Barlas' thoughts. To achieve these goals, this study uses a qualitative method by analyzing Asma Barlas' works through a hermeneutic approach or critical interpretation of the text of the Qur'an and interpretations. Data were obtained from a literature review of Barlas' writings and theories on gender, Islam, and communication. The results of the study show that Asma Barlas emphasizes the importance of reading the Qur'an with a fair perspective that does not support patriarchy, and criticizes interpretations that tend to strengthen male dominance. In addition, Barlas also offers a communication model in Islam that is based on dialogue and equality, which can create more harmonious relationships between men and women in various aspects of life. The conclusion of this study is that Asma Barlas' thoughts provide a more inclusive and equal understanding of gender in Islam, which can improve communication and relationships between men and women in society.
